Rules of the Game
Islandsopoly doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. Thus, the rules are similar to most Monopoly-style games. The goal is to finish the game by becoming the “wealthiest” player. However, there are two other ways to play, which caps the overall time limit.
Option one: 60 - 90 minutes
Four rule changes:
- During PREPARATION, the Banker shuffles and then deals three Title Deed cards to each player. These are free – no payment to the Bank is required.
- You need only three houses (instead of four) on each lot of a complete color-group before you may buy a hotel. Hotel rent remains the same. The turn-in value is still one-half the purchase price, which in this game is one house less than in the regular game.
- If you land in FOX HILL PRISON you must exit on your next turn by:
- Using a “GET OUT OF FOX HILL PRISON FREE” card if you have one (or can buy); or
- Rolling doubles; or by Paying $100. Unlike the standard rules, you may try to roll doubles and, failing to do so, pay the $100 on the same turn.
4. END OF GAME: The game ends when one player goes bankrupt.
The remaining players value their property:
- Cash on hand;
- Properties, Utilities and transportation owned, at the price printed on the board;
- Any mortgaged property owned, at one-half the price printed on the board;
- Houses are valued at purchase price; and hotels, are valued at purchase price including the value of the houses turned in.
The richest player wins!
Option two: Time Limit Game
All players or the “game master” set a definite end time for the game. This option is wonderful for families with kids or groups who want more than 90 minutes or less than 60.
